July 14, 2016 – ORLANDO, FL – Today, Kenneth R. Feinberg, Administrator of OneOrlando Fund, released a draft Protocol that outlines the proposed process for the distribution of the OneOrlando funds directly to victims’ families and survivors.
In addition to feedback from, Equality Florida and the National Center for Victims of Crime/National Compassion Fund, the OneOrlando Fund Board is encouraging input from victims’ families and survivors of the Pulse tragedy and the Orlando community. Two town hall meetings will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 12:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. at the Amway Center to get feedback from the public. A copy of the draft protocol is available at OneOrlando.org.
The following are the next steps for the process, based on the draft Protocol, to ensure these funds are distributed as quickly as possible:
For Immediate Assistance: The City is meeting the immediate needs of those impacted by the Pulse tragedy through the Orlando United Assistance Center (OUAC). This center serves as a navigation point for those who need support during this critical time of healing as well as moving forward. For personalized services, citizens can schedule an appointment through 407-500-HOPE or by visiting cityoforlando.net/hope.
Pledges and Donations: The OneOrlando Fund continues to seek additional donations to support the hundreds of individuals impacted by the tragedy on June 12, 2016. All donations received by September 25, 2016 will be disbursed to victims of the Pulse tragedy.
Since the fund was launched on Tuesday, June 14, more than $20 million dollars has been pledged or donated.
