City of Orlando Working to Get Orange Avenue Open For Business and Travel
City is Asking Media to Vacate Orange Avenue Roadway

June 20, 2016 – The City of Orlando thanks the media for their support, understanding and patience as our Orlando Police Department, State and Federal agencies continue to investigate this incident.

In order to allow many of our businesses to reopen and to further facilitate the flow of traffic in our south Downtown corridor, we are asking that all media locate in the designated media staging area in the vacant lot on the southeast corner of Harding Street and Orange Avenue.

Relocation will begin at 8 p.m. tonight and must be complete by 12 a.m. on Tuesday, June 21.

No media should be in the roadway after 12 a.m. Tuesday, June 21.

The City of Orlando is working to have the northbound lanes of Orange Avenue open for traffic by 7 a.m. Tuesday, June 21.

Businesses along northbound Orange Avenue who have been impacted by this tragedy will now be accessible for patrons.  The City encourages everyone to support the local Downtown South businesses.  These businesses have been diligent in providing assistance in any way possible to our first responders, visitors and families. Visit downtownsouthorlando.org for more information.

The City continues to work towards opening the southbound lanes of Orange Avenue and providing access for those businesses and the traveling public.  The City will continue to provide updates when a timeframe is established for this.

We are encouraging residents to use caution in this area and take alternate routes and modes of transportation, if available, including SunRail.
