Credentialing & Logistic Information for Media Outlets Planning to Cover “Orlando United Day”

Orlando, Fla. (May 25, 2017) – To remember the victims and honor the survivors of the Pulse Nightclub tragedy, a number of community events and activities will take place on Monday, June 12, 2017.  The day has also been formally dedicated as “Orlando United Day – A Day of Love and Kindness” to remember and honor the 49 innocent lives taken at Pulse, reaffirm the community’s commitment to survivors and loved ones, as well as recognize the global compassion and love displayed in the wake of the tragedy.

The Central Florida Media Committee is assisting the City of Orlando, Orange County Government and event organizers with media and logistical support for these events.

The media committee will be providing pool coverage and a specific media footprint at both the Pulse Nightclub and Lake Eola locations, which have been purposely organized not to invade the privacy of the victims, family members and survivors attending the events, while providing appropriate access to the activities that day for the media.

All media are advised to be respectful of the wishes of the organizers of these events to provide a serene and respectful environment.

Media will not be permitted in areas designated for family members, victims and survivors.

REQUIRED CREDENTIALS:
Registration:
Media interested in covering these events are required to apply for credentials ahead of time with the Central Florida Media Committee.

Credentials issued for Pulse related events must be worn with a photo identification badge issued by the media outlet requesting credentials.

Credential Registration Deadline is May 26, 2017 at 6 PM ET.

To register, go to:  cflmedia.org.

Media Staging and Parking Requests:
Media outlets may also request assigned parking, live locations and live truck parking through the Central Florida Media Committee at cflmedia.org as part of the credentialing process.

Media will only be able to park in specifically designated areas at the event sites.  Space is limited and media outlets are encouraged to car pool when possible and consider changing out staff instead of trucks, vehicles and equipment.

MEDIA LOGISTICS:
All media updates and logistics will be posted on cflmedia.org.
Credential Distribution:

Credentials will be distributed on site at Lake Eola on Sunday, June 11 from 12 PM – 5 PM and Monday, June 12 starting at 6 AM.

The credentialing desk will be located in Lake Eola Park, directly south of East Washington Street near the News 13 Pool Production Truck.

Credential distribution will NOT be done at the Pulse Nightclub site.  All media should plan to pick up their credentials first at the Lake Eola site before going to the Pulse Nightclub site.

Pool Distribution:
Event organizers at both sites have granted access to pool video and still cameras except for journalists invited or hired by event organizers.  The pool television coverage on satellite will begin 30 minutes prior to all pool events.

Distribution of the television pool feeds will be provided via satellite only. Satellite coordinates will be provided in advance to all credentialed media. Media outlets requiring to record the pool feeds on site are encouraged to work with their network and local affiliates to connect recording devices. Due to space limitations no local distribution of the pool feeds is planned at either site.

Lake Eola – Satellite Trucks:
Media truck parking and access to satellites will be very limited at Lake Eola due to the amount of trees and high-rise building in the area.

Media outlets with trucks with broadband/cellular broadcast capabilities are encourage to use this technology to provide maximum flexibility.

Portable Live Backpacks:
Media workspace will be limited at both sites.  The use of portable broadband/cellular backpacks are recommended as cabling options will not be possible in some locations.

Labeling Equipment/Items:
All equipment or items such as coolers, boxes and backpacks should be kept in vehicles or clearly labeled as media equipment.
