A few weeks ago, the City of Orlando took ownership of the Pulse site, with a goal of creating a permanent memorial for the 49 angels taken on June 12, 2016. Since then, Mayor Buddy Dyer has met with members of the onePULSE Foundation Board to understand the impacts of the organization’s dissolution and learn more about the work done to date on the memorial. The board agreed to share memorial design work and provided an overview of its initiatives beyond the memorial. Looking ahead, Mayor Dyer believes the best approach to creating a memorial at the Pulse site is for the City of Orlando to lead the process. To do this, the City of Orlando will establish the Orlando United Pulse Memorial Fund. The City of Orlando remains committed to working with the families of the victims and the survivors to ensure that the memorial honors the lives taken, those impacted by the tragedy and pays tribute to the resiliency of Orlando. The City of Orlando is finalizing a process for engaging and communicating with victims’ families, survivors and first responders as part of this process. In addition to leading the memorial process, the City of Orlando also plans to lead the efforts to ensure the Annual Remembrance Ceremony and the CommUNITY Rainbow Run, in partnership with UCF DeVos Sport Business Management Program, continue in 2024. Both events have allowed our community to come together to honor the 49 angels each June. Hace algunas semanas, el municipio de Orlando compró la propiedad del sitio Pulse con el objetivo de crear un monumento permanente que honre a nuestros 49 ángeles del 12 de junio de 2016. Desde entonces, el alcalde Dyer se ha reunido con miembros de la Junta onePULSE Foundation para considerar el impacto que generará la disolución de la organización y conocer del trabajo realizado hasta la fecha respecto al monumento. La Junta acordó compartir el trabajo de diseño del monumento y ofreció una descripción general de sus iniciativas más allá de este proyecto. Pensando en el futuro, el alcalde Dyer cree que la mejor manera de crear un monumento conmemorativo en el sitio de Pulse es que el municipio de Orlando lidere el proceso. Para ello, el municipio establecerá el fondo Orlando United Pulse Memorial Fund. El municipio de Orlando continúa con su compromiso trabajar con las familias de las víctimas y los sobrevivientes para garantizar que el monumento honre las vidas perdidas, a los afectados por la tragedia y rinda tributo a la capacidad de recuperación de Orlando. El municipio de Orlando está finalizando el proceso para involucrar y comunicarse con las familias de las víctimas, los sobrevivientes y los socorristas.
